How much money can you save by using the Trakloc® Steel Framing system?

This is a question we hear often, and it is our experience that double digit post installation savings are quite obtainable.  Of course we wish to point out that the Trakloc® Steel Framing system may not yield these savings in every application, such as small segmented walls, but if your crews embrace the product these savings are easily obtained.  The bigger the project, the more the savings.  We find that crews who traditionally raise 100 feet of wall a day, can easily now raise 180-220 feet, and still expend less energy with less risk of injury.

The worksheets included with this workbook are for estimating the installed savings achieved when using Trakloc® Steel Framing versus commodity stud and track steel framing components.  We suggest that you download the calculator at the bottom of the page and follow along with these instructions with your downloaded version.

One of the first things to note is that there are actually two value calculators.  One uses hourly wages to determine project cost and the other uses a ratio of materials to labor in order to compute the total installed cost.  Select the one you wish to use from the tabs at the bottom, as pointed out by the arrow in these screen shots.

Once you have selected the Value Estimator you wish to use:

  • Click on the grey cells (or use your tab key) to navigate to the different input cells.  These are the cells in which you are allowed to make changes so the Value Estimator reflects your real world conditions.

  • Input data for your project. Use the sliding bar to change the total lineal feet of wall in your project. For wall heights and on center spacing, either enter data directly or use the drop down menus.

  • Select the type of top track to be used, either standard track, deep leg track, or slotted track.

  • Then enter your product pricing in dollars per 1,000 feet. Data may be entered directly or using the arrows. in the cell labeled $/MLF.

    • Note: Screw pricing can only be adjusted by using the arrows.

  • Enter information about your labor rate or estimating ratios.  All the other data will automatically calculate

  • The last step will be entering your estimate of the Productivity % gained with Trakloc.  To change the value, just click on the drop down arrow and select your estimated productivity gain.

  • Once you have entered all the above data, your savings will be displayed on the green box at the bottom.

Below is the link to download your own Trakloc® Value Estimator.  This estimator automatically places a 15% premium on top of the commodity pricing you entered for the Trakloc® Steel Framing system.  However you will want to contact your local distributor since the premium in your market may differ.
